Monitoring Grows Up – The New Zabbix Integration

With COD 3.2, we put the reachability of your firewalls and devices under the microscope using fping. Nice, but honestly only half the story.

If you run operations, you don't just want to know "up or down," but what a host is really up to. That's exactly where COD 3.3 comes in: we're building monitoring out into a full-featured module, based on Zabbix, right inside COD.

The Big New Module: Zabbix-Based Monitoring

Until now, Monitoring was just a read-only statistics page backed by an internal histogram table. That's history. Now you get a complete (read-only) Zabbix integration with its own views:

    • A dashboard with configurable widgets, drilldown dialogs, and a severity palette.
    • Hosts, Templates, Problems, and Recent Problems, each with detail pages for individual hosts and templates.
    • Unlinked Assets: COD shows you which assets aren't hooked into monitoring yet.

All views read through the Zabbix bridge in the backend. The frontend never talks to Zabbix directly, and a shared cache layer keeps the lists snappy.

Host Management Straight from the Asset Dialog

This is the part that saves time day to day: you provision, edit, and remove Zabbix hosts right from the asset dialog in COD, without ever switching tools. One asset, one place, one motion.

    Multi-Tenant from Day One

Each ZabbixConfig gets host-group filtering per site. That cleanly limits a customer's view to the host groups they own. On a shared Zabbix server, everything stays neatly separated.

    What Else?

3.3 brings a long tail of fixes across Firewall, Backup, Network, Dashboard, and Platform. The details are in the changelog.

    Migration

This version ships three small cod_prisma migrations, one of which adds six previously missing foreign keys against asset_object. Check the MIGRATION.md before upgrading. It walks you through everything step by step.

    Want a Live Demo?

If you want to see what the new monitoring looks like in practice, get in touch. We'd be happy to show you COD 3.3 in action.
